What Can You Do About The Dangers of Air Fresheners?

There are many things wrong with covering up odors … but I want to focus on the one that is going to have a long-term effect on health: air fresheners. They can be quite harmful to your health.

Air fresheners come in many different forms, from air and fabric sprays to plug in “burners” to solids. While they can perfume the air of your home, they don’t actually neutralize smells … they just cover them up with different smells, and they can wreak havoc on your home’s air quality.

What’s in Air Freshener

According to the EPA, air freshener contains four basic ingredients: formaldehyde, petroleum distillates, aerosol propellants, and p-dichlorobenzene.

Formaldehyde can cause a number of health effects including:

  • Watery eyes
  • Burning eye, nose, throat and other mucous membranes
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea
  • Asthma attacks

Petroleum distillates come from petrochemical manufacturing, which contribute to air, soil, and groundwater pollution. The effects on human health include:

  • Respiratory problems
  • Asthma
  • Chemical pneumonia
  • Pulmonary damage

Aerosol propellants can harm earth’s ozone layer. Likewise, they can damage human health including:

  • Increased cancer risk
  • Breathing problems
  • Development of chronic health issues

Paradichlorobenzene (p-DCB) is often found in mothballs and may cause:

  • Anemia
  • Skin lesions
  • Liver damage
  • Loss of appetite
  • Changes to the blood

Of course, air fresheners also contain fragrance, often in the form of perfumed chemicals.

Indoor Air Quality

It’s quite ironic, really, that something designed to “improve” indoor air quality by making it smell better actually winds up making your home more toxic. Studies show that use of air fresheners in the home can trigger asthma and allergies, along with other breathing problems. Because your home is a relatively closed space, adding elements that diminish air quality can harm your family and contribute to the toxic brew of chemicals that wind up trapped in your system. Air fresheners can also harm pets, which have a faster metabolism. They may also be especially dangerous for people with pulmonary conditions such as asthma, allergies, or COPD.

 Alternative to Air Freshener

Everyone’s home can get a little stale from time to time. If you’d like to sweeten your environment, however, you can make far healthier choices than air fresheners. Here is a suggestion:

Fresh Air! We all remember growing up and opening the windows to get fresh air into the house. There was a good reason for that. Mother Nature and the Sun combine to give the air energy and freshness. The sun combines with water vapor in the air to make it fresh and healthy.

While that was a good idea years ago, and in some areas, it may still be a good idea to open the windows and get a good cross ventilation. Unfortunately, for many of us, that may not be possible or desirable. Why?

Well, if you live in a high rise apartment building or condo the windows may not open. In urban areas, there may be a variety of particulates and other pollutants in the air, or industrial odors. In suburban areas, particularly in the spring, the outdoor air could be rife with pollen and/or other allergens. In areas that are prone to fires, the air could have toxic smoke. In any of these scenarios, opening windows or doors might not be a good idea.

So… what is a person to do? Well, if we start with the idea that natural fresh air is healthy and energizing then it would follow that if we could only recreate that INDOORS, that would be a good thing, right?

Well, thanks to a new technology, WE CAN! The AirRestore Air Naturalizer is a small but powerful device that Naturally Freshens, Cleans, and ENERGIZES the air INSIDE your home or office, just like nature does outdoors.

AirRestore is NOT an air purifier, or an ozone generator. it is too cutting edge for that! It is all new, nature inspired technology to naturally clean the air. It uses no filters, no chemicals and very little energy.

The AirRestore Air Naturalizer was designed with technology that takes stale indoor air and gives it the air cleaning properties of outdoor air. Outdoor air has energy added to it, continually provided by the sun and the wind. AirRestore adds the energy to make energized versions of the natural elements of the air, (nitrogen, oxygen, water vapor, even the pollutants themselves), in the plasma conversion chamber.

The powerful ionic engine inside the naturalizer is the primary driving force of the process. It puts the energized elements to work, causing a series of oxidation and reduction reactions that essentially use all of the elements in the air during the clean-up process.

AirRestore is an “Active” unit and does not passively rely on bringing air through filters, which can only trap large particles and only cover 150-300 square feet, but sends “scrubbers” out into the air to take particles out of the air. Each unit covers up to 800 square feet and “takes the solution to the pollution”, It evens kills germs and bacteria on surfaces.
